Unique Legacy Project Comes To Fruition

After a 10 plus year effort, a unique self published book entitled “A Journey Through The Twentieth Century” is to be released in early May and will be available at book signings throughout the next several months.

The book is about the life of Warder Page (father of Villager, Wayne Page) who was born on September 1, 1900 and died July 23, 1995, about a month prior to his 95th birthday. It traces the life of a poor hard working young lad who grew up on a farm in central Ohio, worked his way through college, had an extensive civil engineering career, endured many hardships during the “Great Depression,” experienced WWII with a son away in battle, made many many contributions to society without fanfare, and, above all was a great father. It has a unique twist since the author is deceased and the co-author is alive. Additionally, the book is a good read, humorous in many spots and comes alive through the insertion of numerous pictures and historical documents. It also provides one with a model which might be used as a guide for writing a personal family history or genealogy.

The book also has an intergenerational story from a local perspective. Shelby Fussell, a Villages High School student remarkably transcribed pages and pages of handwritten material and typed the first drat of the manuscript during the 2005 – 2006 school year. Her assistance provided the spark which the co-author needed to put words on paper and continue going forward with the project.

In the release, it was revealed by Wayne Page “ in honor of my Dad’s love of music and introducing me to the Harmony World at a young age, all profits from the sales of the book will be donated to the Barbershop Harmony Society’s Youth in Harmony (YIH) Program. The cost for a personalized copy of “A Journey Trough The Twentieth Century” will be $ 20.00 at all book signings a $5.00 savings, on postage and handling. Page founded The Central Florida Chapter & “Heart of Florida” Chorus in May 2003 and served as the organization’s first president through 2004.
