"A Journey Through The Twentieth Century" wins the Worthington Book Award
Early in the month I received a pleasant surprise when I was officially notified that
A Journey Through The Twentieth Century was chosen by the Ohio Genealogical
Society (OGS) for its coveted Governor Thomas Worthington 2008 Book Award-
for an Ohio Biography – or collective biography. This long standing award is in
honor of Thomas Worthington, Ohio’s sixth governor who is credited at the
“Father of Ohio Statehood” and the establishment of the first State Library in
Ohio. OGS is the largest state-wide genealogical society in the U.S. with a member-
ship of over 6,000 and 94 local chapters.
The award certificate was presented at the annual 2008 OGS Conference’s Awards
Luncheon on Saturday, April 19th Sheraton Cincinnati – North Hotel, Cincinnati,
Ohio. Due to distance and timing, I was unable to attend. However, Jeff Bernardi,
my grand nephew (my Dad’s oldest great grand-son), was able to attend as a “family
stand-in” since he resides in Columbus, Ohio.
As item of interest, Jeff Bernardi is a young elementary school educator who teaches
in an “inner city” elementary school in Columbus. Additionally, he is a contribut-
ing author of a recent book titled: Success Stories From a Failing School –Teachers
Living Under The Shadow of N.C.L.B. published by Information Age Publishing Inc.
